We’ve outfitted a step van with 150+ pairs of roller skates, pads and helmets for use at community events, schools and private parties. The goal is to take the healthful and empowering attributes of skating and derby out to the Portland community. This program is set up to be self-sustaining by hosting a balance of free community events benefitting Portland’s BIPOC and economically depressed communities and paid events. Our 12,000 square foot clearspan space boasts not one, but 2 massive roll up doors to keep fresh air flowing. Plenty of room for distancing and AV capable for your distanced event. We have a full bar, and myriad food partners in Sellwood and beyond, as well as ample parking. Skates are ready to add to the mix if needed, for some coached Roller Derby focused fun!

We’ve created a socially distanced win for 2020-2021, a 50 foot screen outside of our Hangar at Oaks Park. This is a beautiful and magical place to view a movie, private concert, hold an auction or distanced projected event on any type! With flexible ticketing styles and space for 60 cars, you can create an evening for your attendees, or premiere your new content to PDX! Beer Garden available to add on, pending current COVID restrictions.
All Private events will include social distancing, mask wearing, a fresh air location, and signing a waiver created with guidance from Oregon Health Authority. At Skatemobile events, all skates and gear will be sanitized between uses with CDC approved sanitization methods, including use of an electrostatic machine. Skatemobile visits parks and community events renting out skates, pads and helmets, bringing the fun of roller skating outside. All events will include masks and social distancing. We are excited to find events that could be enhanced by the addition of Skatemobile. For pop-up skate rental events, Portlanders can tune in to Rose City Rollers social media to find out where the Skatemobile will be next.
Once safe, Rose City Rollers looks forward to using Skatemobile to bring skating and derby to after school programs and individual class events. We are partnering with Active Children Portland to pilot an on-site after school skating/derby program and then expecting it to grow from there. Some school programming will be free or grant funded, but we also invite schools and PTAs to reach about scheduling paid skate parties and classes.
Skatemobile is available to bring the fun to your party or gathering. You provide the flat surface and excited friends, we’ll bring Skatemobile. In addition to safely providing skates and protective gear, we can bring the music, skate instructors, a master of ceremonies. We can tailor your party to suit any vibe, whether focused on boogying to classic jams or including traditional roller rink elements like the Hokey Pokey and Red Light/Green Light.
