The most expensive plane tickets that I've seen are only $150. Most are cheaper than that. I don't understand how you can drive there and back for less money than that. Especially after you factor in the 20 hours of your time spent sitting in the car doing nothing.

I'm stuck flying (if I am cleared by the Dr) to Western because I'm working in Folsom M-Th

that said, if someone might have space in their ground vehicle for my camera bag I'd chip in for gas as opposed to pay the $50+ the
airlines are requiring for extra luggage.

I booked my hotel reservations! I’m getting excited!

FYI - They listed the host hotels on the event’s webpage, if you haven’t already noticed. I went with the Holiday Inn, because they have two beds in each room. The Residence Inn’s rooms only have one bed (unless you want to pay $159 per night for a bed and a sleeper sofa, or hundreds of dollars per night for a room with two beds). The Holiday Inn is only $79 per night plus taxes, and that price includes up to 4 people per room. The Residence Inn charges extra for each person. The Holiday Inn is only a block and a half farther away from the venue than the Residence Inn is, so location really isn't a factor.

I just booked a room at the Holiday Inn for Thursday-Saturday.

I'm interested in sharing the room to cut down on expenses. The room has 2 double beds and can hold up to 4 people (although I might prefer to keep it to 3 max). Total room cost is $80/night.

If anyone is potentially interested, let me know.

Good Morning, and to get back to you, unfortunately even if a league wants two photographers they can only have one. Due to the venue size and so many photographers wanting to shoot, there has to be specific rules. We will have a house photographer plus a WFTDA photographer then then the team photographers, 10 teams, so 10 photographers. So for photographers who want to come to the tournament but are not the designated league photographer they will have to purchase a ticket and will not be allowed to shoot, sorry.

Would have been nice to know before the non-refundable ticket window closed.

Anyway for those players with sig others who bring cameras and such be warned.

Hey folks just figured I would add to this thread since people are talking in general about western regionals.

from the sounds of it, Sacred is going to be extremely restrictive on cameras - they only allowed 1 photog per team, and as of right now the photog will only be allowed to photograph bouts their team is playing in.

I seriously do not think this will apply to small pocket cameras people use from the general admission area - but I know a few partners and family carry gear our league would look twice at so I wanted to share so that you are not disappointed

Just bought my plane tickets. I see the airport is a fair distance from the Convention Center and Holiday Inn, where I'm staying...how are other air traveling fans getting from the airport to your hotels? Public transportation?

I land at 7:45 on Thursday the 30th. Kanna comes in on the flight after me, around 10:30 or so, and I'm staying with her so around that time. I'll definitely check out the shuttle discount thing, though, since 10:30-11:00 might be a little late for someone to pick us up.

I'd be willing to pick you guys up at the airport if I can find a car to borrow. I was planning on trying to borrow a car and pick Kanna up at the airport anyway. The only downside to that plan is if I can't find anybody to loan me a car. I'll be in Sacramento at 11:30 AM that day, so I was suspecting that would give me enough time to find somebody to loan me a car, but no guarantee. I'm taking the shuttle to the hotel earlier in the day myself.

SWEET! Thank you Dancing Scott! Okay, I’ll borrow your vehicle and go pick up Kanna and whoever wants a ride from the airport.

Alicia, since Goodie and I are getting there earlier than anybody else, we’ll have already checked into the room. I’ll give them your name at the front desk and have them hold an extra key for you. So you can go to the front desk and pick up your key and get into the room in case you don’t feel like waiting for me to show up at the airport and you take the shuttle or something. Depending upon what time Dancing Scott makes it to Sacramento, I may be able to also make an earlier run to the airport and grab you and Speed Bump.

Alicia, hold off on the "thanks" until I actually show up with a car to loan! I'll do my best to get there early, but with road trips you never know.

FYI, I don't have a cell phone so folks will have to track me down in the room.

Also...if the George/Kanna room gets over-full the DancingScott/SpeedBump room had a couple cancellations so we have room for one or two more.

I think that I'm on that same flight. I'm on a Horizon (Alaska) flight that lands at 11:24 AM. I'm in seat 10A.

Alan is flying in from Seattle at the same time and Elwood is picking him up at the airport. I was going to try and bum a ride with him, if he has room for me and Goodie also. Maybe we can cram a 5th person into the car...

Hi Amanda, of course I remember you! Finding a room doesn't seem to be a problem anymore...the problem is that I didn't buy a plane ticket early enough and prices have jumped. I'm not up for the drive. If airfare drops (unlikely), you can be sure I'll be there!

Mac the Knife, Red & family will get in on Thursday night, as we are doing a 10-day national park car trip, as well. So, if anyone wants Zink shuttle service, let us know the times and we'd be happy to ferry you where you need to go. Plus, we can do the return run too, if needed, because we aren't leaving until mid-day Monday.

Scratcher, I am pretty sure that Mike and I are on that flight. We are getting a car and it should seat 5, there are already 3 of us but we could take 2 more. If we get the same type of car as at ECE it will be tight but doable. Kati is the other person with us since Sharkey is already down there. Maybe we can get him to make a run to the airport as well.
