Happy 2012! If your new year’s resolutions include becoming more involved with the league or becoming a roller girl yourself, we’ve got ya covered. First, join us for a skating and karaoke fundraiser to kick off your new year right then, embrace your inner derby girl and learn about our recreational derby program, Wreckers, at our orientation open to all ages and all skating levels. DO IT!!! Then join us for RCR’s home team Season 7 Opener at Memorial Coliseum!!!!

But first, here’s a big, fat shout out to RCR’s very own, very deserving Scald Eagle who just was voted in as Derby News Network’s 2011 Rookie of the Year!!!! In the last year, she’s gone from Fresh Meat to Guns N Rollers to competing at nationals with the Wheels of Justice. What an amazing athlete. What an amazing year. We couldn’t be more proud. So flap those arms and give a hearty “CIAAAAWWWW!!!” right now, wherever you are, in honor of Scald Eagle!!!!


Skate-a-Roke - Skate/Karaoke Fundraiser

Skate-a-Roke Monday, January 9, 7:30pm @ Oaks Park Skating Rink - Skating and karaoke come together beautifully in one magical night of hilarity for this Rose City Rollers fundraiser, featuring Baby Ketten Karaoke, presented by Portland Mercury. General skating lessons, as well as derby and jam skating lessons will be available for an additional fee, but you’re on your own with the singing. Here are three ways you can join in: Skating & Karaoke (skates included) for $10; Skating, Karaoke, and RCR Skate-a-Roke T-shirt for $25; or Skating, Karaoke, T-shirt, AND Pre-Event Private Lesson with a Rose City Roller for $50!.


RCR Season 7 Opener

Saturday, January 21st, 6pm (doors @5pm) @ Memorial Coliseum - The first intra-league bouts of 2012 take place in one huge night of derby with two full, back-to-back bouts! First up, it’s Game 1 with the ice-queens, the Heartless Heathers, taking on the flat track rock stars, the Guns n Rollers. Then, in Game 2, it’s the high octane Break Neck Betties vs.the risk-taking dames of the High Rollers. Last season, the Betties came out in first place, followed by the High Rollers (2nd), Heartless Heathers (3rd) and Guns N Rollers (4th). This season, it’s anybody’s guess, so come see for yourself! Run to your favorite roller girl for tickets or buy them online.

Wreckers Enrollment Orientation

Saturday, January 14th, 1pm @ The Hangar at Oaks Park - Come and orient yourself to our ever-evolving and extremely welcoming recreational derby program, Wreckers. There have been some changes to the orientation, so be sure to check out the website for additional information.


Heathers at Andromadolls of ECRG

Saturday, January 28th, 6pm @ ECRG - Emerald City Roller Girls’ Andromedolls have invited RCR’s Heartless Heathers down to Eugene’s Lane Events Center for their season opener.


Volunteer Opportunity Fair

Saturday, January 28th, 4pm @ The Hangar at Oaks Park - Come meet the people behind the scenes in RCR that help to ensure our success. In addition to be a fun social activity to meet new RCR loyalists, find out about the awesome, super fun, ridiculously rewarding volunteer positions available. Positions will include volunteer coordination assistance, program development, data entry, photography assistance, and more! All skill levels and time commitments welcome. Food and drink provided. Travel Team Tryouts

RCR’s travel team tryouts for Wheels of Justice and Axles of Annihilation take place the last weekend of January. Travel team 2012 charters will be announced January 29th. Keep an eye on our Fan Forum for updates.

The Rose City Rollers need you! Rose City is currently looking for volunteers to keep our fast-paced, skater owned and operated 501c3 non-profit organization running smoothly.
