February RCR Newsletter
Intra-League Power Shifts at RCR Season 7 Opener and a Sweet Season To Come Rolling into high gear at Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 21, the Rose City Rollers welcomed more than 3,500 fans for the Season 7 Opener featuring two intra-league bout upsets. Finishing fourth in 2011, behind the Heartless Heathers’ (HH) third-place finish, Guns N Rollers (GNR) commanded a 164 to 56 victory in Game 1. The 2011 Home Season Champion, the Break Neck Betties (BNB) returned derby girls Megahurtz and Cadillac to the flat track for a rematch against reigning second-place team, the High Rollers (HR), who led 78 to 74 at the half. BNB and HR risk-takers jacked the lead throughout the second period, with HR taking two additional points after the 60-second mark for a final score of HR 138, BNB 126. Intense Season 7 debuts hearken an exciting year for RCR teams and fans alike. February boasts numerous bouts, parties and volunteer opportunities, enabling new and returning fans to marinate in Roller Derby culture.

Get Involved: Athletic Supporters Needed
Okay, so technically the position is called a “volunteer,” but RCR needed to catch your attention with a snappy headline in case you missed the Volunteer Fair at The Hanger at the end of January. Entry-level volunteers, are called Yellow Shirt Volunteers because they volunteer at bouts in fancy yellow shirts. They are an important part of the RCR family and help the organization by facilitating bouts. While it’s the easiest way to jump int, it’s not the only one! Apply and see some of our opportunties online at www.rosecityrollers.com/volunteer to join the ranks! Have questions? Email us at volunteer@rosecityrollers.com.
