We’ve been waiting (and waiting) and counting the days, and September is finally here! Roller girls all over the western region are atwitter about the highly anticipated Bridgetown Brawl, the biggest derby event to hit Portland since EVER! But before that, check out a United Cerebral Palsy Walk and Roll and a super colossal dance party fundraiser with the High Rollers. Read on for details.


Bridgetown Brawl - WFTDA West Region Playoffs

Friday - Sunday, September 23rd-25th @ Memorial Coliseum

The Rose City Rollers will be hosting the 2011 Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) West Region Playoffs! Bridgetown Brawl will take over Memorial Coliseum for 3 days and includes 17 bouts between the top 10 teams out of 34 that make up the western region. Current rankings in order from seed 1-10 include Oly Rollers, Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, Denver Roller Dolls, Rose City Rollers, B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, Rat City Rollergirls, Sacred City Derby Girls, Jet City Rollergirls, Tucson Roller Derby and Angel City Derby Girls. The West Regional tournament is one of the Big 5 Tournaments, of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, which includes four regions (East, North Central, South Central and West) and the fifth annual WFTDA Championship Tournament to be held November 11-13, in Denver, Colorado.

United Cerebral Palsy Walk, Roll ‘n Run

Saturday, September 10, 10am - 12pm @ 1515 SE Water Ave. (near OMSI) - Join roller girls and others as they help raise funds for United Cerebral Palsy’s Family Support Department. Participants can choose from either a 2.5 mile loop or an 8k run along the Springwater Corridor.


High Rollers Fundraiser

Saturday, September 10, 9:30pm @ The Spare Room - Roller girls, raffles and riff raff await at this high energy dance party with the ladies of the High Rollers and Erotic City, a Prince tribute band! The event is a fundraiser for the High Rollers.


Rosebuds Tryouts

Sunday, September 11, 2pm-3:30pm @ The Hangar at Oaks Park 

Girls, ages 12-17, are invited to try out for Rose City Rollers’ junior derby league, the Rosebuds! Bring a helmet, mouth guard, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, quad skates and a parent to see if you have what it takes to be on the team. Rosebuds Tryout




Fresh Meat Tryouts

To ensure our program is the best that it can be and allow the women already in the Fresh Meat training program to advance to teams, we are postponing our tryouts for new Fresh Meat. We will be sure to keep you updated on the next round of tryouts as the information becomes available. In the meantime, keep skating!


Save the date! October Doubleheader

Saturday, October 22, 6pm (doors @ 5pm) @ The Hangar at Oaks Park - Join us for a doubleheader with bouts not typically seen on a Saturday night. First up, it’s the Rosebuds, RCR’s junior derby league, followed by Rose City Rollers as they take on Portland Men’s Roller Derby. Stay tuned to our website for details.

The Rose City Rollers need you! Rose City is currently looking for volunteers to keep our fast-paced, skater owned and operated 501c3 non-profit organization running smoothly.
