Derby Daze General Info Register Connect The Derby Daze of Summer 2009 August 21st - 23rd, Portland, OR We've changed the skill level requirements - "If you can skate in a pack, you can attend Derby Daze" The Rose City Rollers are hosting the Northwest's most rad derby extravaganza Aug 21-23...Derby Daze! The weekend will be action packed with clinics, scrimmaging, outdoor endurance, ref meetings, a Duke City vs Rose City bout, roller coaster rides and more - basically total awesomeness. And all for just $75. Hosted by RCR's Wheels of Justice all-star team, Derby Daze clinics are geared toward intermediate and advanced skaters, anyone who can skate in a pack. You'll learn the skills and drills that have helped this team steadily climb to #3 in the Western region. Individual sessions have been developed to teach specific skills for Jamming, Blocking, Pack Communication, Footwork, and team strategy. In addition we have a host of off-skates and endurance sessions planned to keep you moving at top performance all weekend. Open (drop-in) scrimmages happen every afternoon and Saturday's featured Challenge Scrimmages will put the region's best (and goofiest) mixed teams head to head in 15-minute grudge matches. But you're not just coming to skate! Don't worry- there's plenty of extracurricular action to keep you moving. Your ticket price includes entrance to Saturday night's Wheels of Justice vs. Duke City bout (sanctioned WFTDA bout), unlimited rides at Oaks amusement park on Saturday, admission to the after parties and barbecue, and loads of non-derby skating around Portland. Click to download the Derby Days Schedule [pdf] (update 8/20/09) Your price of admission gets you: Jam skate admission on Friday night Skating Clinics focusing on jamming, blocking, pivot/pack communication, footwork/basic strateg Outdoor endurance and skating (advanced and intermediate levels) Off-skates workshops (rules, marketing, etc.) Scrimmaging Unlimited amusement park rides on Saturday WOJ vs. Duke bout general admission Sat. night Afterparty admission Sat. night Sunday BBQ admission Transportation to/from Jupiter Hotel All drills and scrimmaging is geared to skaters 21+ yrs. old with intermediate to advanced skill levels. Skaters must be WFTDA Minimum Skills Requirements cleared to participate, "If you can skate in a pack, you can attend Derby Daze!" Saturday there will be 3 legs of activities to rotate through: options are geared to jammers, blockers/pivots, or downtime. Since we are all together, might as well bump boots around: Referee meeting/practice 4.0 rules Q&A Marketing lunch And of course Rose City knows how to have a good time. Saturday night there will be a killer bout, followed by a kick-ass afterparty. We will close out the entire weekend with a sore, bruised, yummy BBQ back at Oaks Park on Sunday afternoon.
