When Can I Try Out/Join Your League?
We have options for women at all skating levels who are interested in derby, and our programs offer tryouts and orientations multiple times per year.
Additionally, we have multiple scholarship opportunities for skaters at different age levels. Please learn more about those opportunities on our Scholarship Page.
Rosebuds and Rose Petals
Not interested in the rough-and-tumble, demanding life of a competitive rollergirl but still wanna skate, bout and have a good time? Women 18+ are invited to join Wreckers, our recreational roller derby team.
Click here for upcoming orientation details! The Wreckers program is open to women 18 and up. Our Wreckers program has multiple levels for new and veteran skaters, including a Derby 101 class for those new on skates and to derby, and a scrimmage for assessed, skilled skaters. You can learn more about Wreckers and join us for our next orientation.
Transfers & Rockets
Interested in playing competitive roller derby with the Rose City Rollers? If you have previous derby experience and would like to transfer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about joining Rockets, our competitive training program & draft pool. Skating assessments for transfers are typically held on the third Thursday and Saturday of each month.
We welcome skaters from other WFTDA leagues who might be passing through town. If you know a home team skater and are interested in skating with them, please make arrangements with that home team using your skater contact directly. Otherwise, please contact email@example.com and include your active WFTDA #, your current league name, and the dates you plan to be in town. We have a drop-in fee of $10 per practice (and you’ll need to sign an event waiver each time you skate), but we can discuss other options if you’re going to be in town for an extended period of time. Did you know WFTDA now allows a secondary affiliation? – so you could add RCR as your secondary league and then qualify for member rates for practices. If you are traveling from a non-WFTDA league from overseas, please contact us to discuss your options.
The Tryouts Experience
Planning to try out for Rockets? Want to know more about what’s expected from a dedicated league skater? Get answers about the skills, gear, requirements, and more on our Tryouts FAQ.
Thank you for your interest in skating with the Rose City Rollers, and good luck. We look forward to meeting you. Remember folks: good potential, along with a great attitude, will take you a long way!
Our Gender Statement
The Rose City Rollers is a women’s roller derby league with the mission to serve women and girls who want to play roller derby. As part of our mission to create an inclusive community, we welcome trans and gender-expansive athletes — regardless of the pronouns they use — who feel most comfortable playing women’s roller derby. Please see the WFTDA Gender Statement for more information.
Additionally, regarding the RCR Junior Derby program, we have families with cis gender boys who would like to play roller derby, but we do not have the capacity to expand our programs to include boys only or co-ed teams at this time, nor does it support our mission.
