"Whip It" Release

Friday, Oct. 2nd 7:30pm at Lloyd Center Regal theater

Whip It Join the Rose City Rollers at the Lloyd Center Regal theater on Friday, October 2nd for the release of "Whip It," Hollywood's roller derby coming of age story that follows Ellen Page as a fledgling derby girl. The Rose City Rollers and their junior league, the Rosebuds, will be celebrating the premiere of Whip It by joining movie goers at the 7:55 showing. The Rollers will be giving away Whip It and RCR merch as well as raffling off 2010 season passes and bout tickets. Come share the experience as RCR's watches a comic version of their life on the big screen.

A Nightmare on Burnside - A Get Ups and Get Down Halloween Gala

Saturday, Oct. 31st 9pm - 2:30am at Bossanova Ballroom

Nightmare on Burnside Get ghoulish and spend your favorite holiday of the year with the Rose City Rollers at Bossanova, 722 E. Burnside, from 9pm-2:30am for our largest fundraiser of the year. For only $20, you can support your local roller derby team and score two drink tickets and a raffle ticket (bring a date and plan ahead and you can both get in for $35). Once inside, be sure to participate in the Not So Talented talent show where the truly lacking in talent will be gonged off stage and the talented will compete for $100 cash prize. To de(cap)itate the night off, there will be a silent auction with a bevy of prizes, a raffle for Rose City Rollers' season tickets, and, of course, a costume contest. Cheap food and snacks will be sold by the roller girls to keep your competitive spirits up. More details here!

Fresh Meat Bootcamp and Tryouts

Tues. Nov 1st at Oaks Park Hangar

21 years+ old? Want to play derby? Here's your chance! Fresh Meat bootcamp starts Tues. November 1st. 4 weeks of clinics and practices, open to all skill levels. Tryouts are Tues. December 1st, 7pm. All candidates must have their own quad skates and equipment. More info here.

Wheels of Justice at Western Regionals

Fri - Sun, Oct. 2nd - 4th in Denver, CO

Derby on the Rocks The Wheels of Justice (WOJ), Rose City Rollers' All-Star travel team, will be competing in Derby on the Rocks, the 2009 WFTDA Western Regional tournament, October 2nd thru October 4th in Denver, Colorado. As the third seeded team, the Wheels of Justice will play the winner of the tournament's first game at 5 pm on Friday, Oct. 2, and will compete in at least three games over the course of the three-day, multi-level tournament. In order to advance to the 2009 WFTDA National Championships in Philadelphia, PA in November, the Wheels must check their way to the top of the pack, which includes two of their most recent conquests, Duke City Derby Girls and B.A.D. Wheels of Justice vs. Windy City Rollers

After returning from the Western Regionals, the Wheels of Justice will continue their quest for derby domination in the Windy City on Saturday, October 17th. The WOJ will bout the Windy City Rollers at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Last year, the WCR All-Stars finished second at the WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) National Tournament and are currently ranked #1 in the WFTDA North Central conference. Rose City will have some bouting under their belts and will surely stick a thorn in Windy City's winning streak.

Rose City vs. the Northwest

Fri - Sat, Oct. 23rd - 24th at Oaks Park Hangar

RCR vs. NW Come one, come all, to watch the bouting debut of the next generation of Rose City's superstars as the newest members of Portland's four home teams play on two mixed teams against the Northwest. On Friday, October 23rd at 8pm, newly drafted ladies to the Heartless Heathers and the High Rollers will battle Salem's Cherry Derby Girls. Saturday, October 24th at 5 pm marks the Break Neck Betties and Guns N' Rollers' chance against the Lilac City Roller girls from Spokane, WA. Spend your weekend at the Hangar! Rose City's B travel team, the Axles of Annihilation (AOA), will bout Everett's Jet City Bombers on Saturday, October 24th at 7 pm. After two days and two bouts of Rose City newbie action, stay to see the all-star team defend our little piece of the Northwest against our fiercely competitive Washington rival.

GNR RAWKtober fest

Friday, Oct. 9th 9pm at Plan B

You are invited to the Guns N' Roller's 2009 season kick-off party on Friday, October 9th at Plan B, 1305 SE 8th Avenue. There will be BANDS! ROLLERGIRLS! A SILENT AUCTION! And more. This will give you the opportunity you've been waiting for: to rock out 'til you knock out. A $5 suggested donation is requested in lieu of all the fun you can muster. Appearances scheduled by LSD&D, The Thornes, Doom Town Super Sect and DJ Rockthrower. You won't want to miss this.

The Rose City Rollers need you! RCR is currently looking for volunteers to keep our fast-paced, 501c3 non-profit sports organization running smoothly. Check out job opportunities here. The Rose City Rollers are women of attitude, athleticism and passion playing a hard-hitting sport of speed and skill. They were pioneers in the rebirth of roller derby and continue to foster its growth.
