Opportunities with RCR

After a jam-packed October, the Rose City Rollers are taking the month of November to gear up for the upcoming 2010 bouting season. All four home teams have been drafting new players to bolster their roster. Roller girl boot camp will be taking place through the month of November for new recruits to the league, and the Rosebuds are having tryouts on November 1st. We're busy, as always, with fall events, fresh meat, and - you guessed it - roller derby. Meet your newest Rose City Rollers players: Stay tuned for some exciting roller derby bouts in December!

Bouting Events


Guns 'n Rollers vs. I-5 All Stars

Friday, Dec. 4th 8pm at Oaks Park Hangar

GnR Join the rock squad that is the Guns n Rollers to square off against the "I-5 All Stars" at the Oaks Park Hangar on Friday, December 4th. The away team is a mixed-up crew from North WA that live right off of the I-5. GnR, in all its glory, including the new hot shot recruits, is hosting this pre-season scrimmage, which is sure to be a blast. Bring your own snacks to go with the beer we'll provide for concessions. Tickets are cheap, $5 at the door (no advance ticket sales), so you have no excuse for missing this preview of GnR's powerhouse 2010 lineup!

Axles of Annihilation vs. Terminal City

Saturday, Dec. 5th 5pm at Oaks Park Hangar

Our beloved travel team, the Axles of Annihilation, will take on the ladies from Vancouver, B.C.'s Terminal City All-Stars on Saturday, December 5th at 5pm. Our first international bout at the hangar should prove to be an exciting one since the TCRG All-Stars recently faced off in an intense battle against the Prima Donnas from Olympia, Washington and came out, scathed, with a 3 point loss. Come cheer us on for domination of the Canadians! More info on our site.

Declaration of Derby

Fri - Sat, Nov. 13th - 15th in Philadelphia, PA

WFTDA Although our hearts cannot fully be there because the Wheels of Justice won't be participating, the 2009 WFTDA National Championships, Declaration of Derby, will be happening in Philadelphia the weekend of November 13th-15th. Grab some popcorn and set up your computer to watch these remaining twelve teams, three from each WFTDA region, throw down for the national title at DNN.

Community Involvement


Casino Night with Hollywood Theatre

Thursday, Nov. 12th 6pm at Hollywood Theater

Make your way to the historic Hollywood Theatre on Thursday, November 12th to join lady luck and your favorite high rollers, the Rose City Rollers, for a night of sin. Bring all your friends and saunter in dressed as a Vegas legend and compete in the Crooners karaoke battle. The prizes are big- including world-class travel packages- so bring your A game! A full no-host bar will be available, complete with absinthe from Portlandís own Integrity Spirits. This event is presented by the Film Action Oregon/Hollywood Theatre (FAO).

Leave It To Betty

Saturday, Nov. 21st 8pm at Slabtown

Join the Betties at Slabtown on Saturday the 21st to celebrate the upcoming 2010 season. We'll have live music from Notes from Undergound and Search Party, plus bingo and fabulous prizes to raffle off. As a memento of the evening, get your picture taken with your favorite Betty in the photo booth. Leave it to Betty to throw a great party! Only $5 cover. Check back later for details!

The Rose City Rollers are women of attitude, athleticism and passion playing a hard-hitting sport of speed and skill. They were pioneers in the rebirth of roller derby and continue to foster its growth.

Their goals are to serve their community by empowering women, providing entertainment for their fans and supporting charitable causes. They are a 501c3 non-profit formed in 2004, and a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association.
