Did. You. Guys. See. That. Game.
What an incredible night for the Rose City Rollers and women’s sports in Portland, as Rose City lost to the 2010 WFTDA Champion Oly Rollers 161-132. DNN recapped it for you.
Firstly, the lower bowl of the Memorial Coliseum was full, loud, and enjoying a fast-paced game with incredible female athletes. It was a beautiful thing to experience.
Secondly, do you know who has beaten the Oly Rollers in WFTDA sanctioned play, in their entire history? The 2011 WFTDA Champion Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. That’s it. Oly has not lost this season, and their average score differential has been +133. (All were tournament-bound teams.) Just to put that in perspective.
What that means:
Tonight, we will play our sister league/regional rival Rat City for the opportunity to play in the WFTDA Championships. We beat them by 77 in March, but Denver beat them in March, too, and Rat knocked Denver out of the tournament in the first round on Friday. This is not a game to be taken lightly.
Wheels needs your support. There are still tickets, so come on down! Rose City’s Wheels of Justice will take on the Rat City All-Stars at 4pm for third place and a spot in the WFTDA Championships.
The Oly Rollers will face the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls at 5:30 for first place in the region. Historically, when these teams meet, it’s just an incredible meeting of speed, agility, and agression. Their last game was a one-point win for Rocky Mountain to win Championships.
See you there.
I think I overused “incredible.” So: marvellous, amazing, astonishing, astounding, awe-inspiring, awesome, extraordinary, fabulous, glorious, great, prodigious, superhuman, wonderful.
